What’s it about?

Under The Dome is based on the novel by Stephen King (who serves as executive producer along with Steven Spielberg,) telling the tale of a small town that suddenly becomes cut off from the rest of the world by a large, transparent hemisphere. Nothing can penetrate this dome from either side, leaving the residents to attempt to figure out its mystery and how to escape.

An Introduction to Under The Dome

Chester’s Mill is a small, unremarkable town that suddenly finds itself the centre of the world’s media attention when a large dome suddenly appears, surrounding it. Despite the best efforts of the town’s residents under the dome and the might of the military on the outside, nothing can penetrate its clear shell.

Our main focus is Dale Barbara (Mike Vogel), known by his nickname as Barbie: a valiant ex-soldier with a subsequent past of murky dealings; he has the potential to be hero-material, but his behaviour would suggest there may be more going on here.

Intrepid Julia Shumway (Rachelle Lefevre) is the town’s news reporter who is investigating suspicious goings-on involving councilman “Big Jim” Rennie (Breaking Bad‘s Dean Norris), a man only interested in what assets or status he can gain from any situation. Julia is as decent as Big Jim is untrustworthy: naturally, they don’t get on.

Once the dome appears, everyone’s focus shifts to what, why and how: what is it, why is it there, and how to get out? As well as being impossible to break through, the dome blocks mobile, internet, radio and audio communication with the outside world.

Just when all avenues seems to have been tried to no avail, some surprising new information presents itself…

Summary

Under The Dome is a mystery show with a great premise and lots of initial intrigue. Clues trickle out regularly to keep your attention: sometimes offering answers, sometimes posing new questions, but the mystery of the dome will eventually be revealed to you. Will the dome come down, or at least will anyone escape? Wait and see!
